We expanded the area of the gear cover over the motor shaft to compensate for the longer motor shaft of the XL-5 & VXL motors. We narrowed two areas along the perimeter of the gear cover to allow clearance for the rear bumper / wheelie bar mount as well. These changes now allow this gear cover to fit all versions of these awesome vehicles. Additional features designed into these gear covers include such important aspects as: An oversized access hole and soft plug for easy access to the slipper clutch nut while still maintaining an unmatched seal of the gear mesh area. Our plug stays in place yet is easy to remove and install. Completely sealed. Stock gear covers have a large, open gap between the spur gear and the out-drive that allows gear destroying dirt to enter. Sleek contours that would look great on any vehicle. More clearance for larger pinions for owners hungry for speed. Retains all stock geometry for easy bolt up; no cutting or gluing required.   Not only do they look great, they will protect those expensive gears like nothing else available! Our new rear Motor Protector eliminates that problem! How did we solve it? We started with an RPM rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount (RPM #80902 or #80905) and extended the reach with this simple add-on piece, which completely blocks the motor from most rear impacts. A stock Traxxas rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount – Traxxas #3677 – can be used with this motor protector as well. Traxxas Slash owners running in the unlimited class or those that simply want to drop a huge amount of rear end weight can eliminate the stock rear bumper and mount the RPM Motor Protector in place of the stock bumper to prevent damage to the end-bell and motor. For the ultimate in rear end protection, a second motor protector can be bolted to the opposite side of the rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount (gear cover side) to help protect the gears and gear cover from extreme rear-end impacts. The RPM motor protector can be used on any vehicle that can run the Traxxas #3677 rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount including the Bandit, e-Stampede, e-Rustler & Slash as well as a number of Traxxas legacy models. Our Motor Protector is molded from our ultra-durable blend of nylons and is backed by our limited lifetime warranty. RPM Mount for Rear Bumper or Wheelie Bar for 2WD Slash, Rustler, Stampede & Bandit - Blue Replaces Traxxas stock #3677 Quick Notes: Fits Traxxas 2WD Slash, Rustler, Stampede & Bandit Replaces Traxxas stock #3677 After hearing numerous requests to look into the rear bumper mount on the Traxxas Slash, we found several issues that could use the RPM touch. Those same problems were encountered on e-Rustler, e-Stampede & Bandit vehicles as well, using the stock wheelie bar mount. The problem – the stock mount uses only a single screw on the gear cover side to hold the mount in place. That causes a hinge effect under rear impacts causing the slotted area holding on to the rear skid plate to pop off after an impact, leaving the stock bumper / wheelie bar mount hanging under the chassis. The RPM solution… An all-new bumper mounting system that eliminates all of the problems encountered with the stock version. The RPM rear bumper / wheelie bar mount has two mounting holes on the gear cover side and three on the motor side – that’s two additional mounting points to eliminate that annoying hinge effect mentioned above. The additional mounting screws help disperse impact energy into the transmission case over more surface area, reducing the possibility of damaging the case significantly! The new RPM mount design means no more slotted parts hanging below the rear skid plate – ever! Our mount tucks up quite nicely behind the skid plate for better rear end ground clearance. Our rear bumper / wheelie bar mount fits a wide range of vehicles too. It fits all versions of the Traxxas Slash 2wd, electric Stampede, electric Rustler and Bandit including VXL, XL-5 and legacy versions. The RPM rear bumper / wheelie bar mount is molded in our nearly indestructible blend of nylons and is sold in either blue or black. RPM Mud Flap System for Slash 2WD & Slash 4×4 Quick Notes: For use with RPM Slash 2WD and Slash 4×4 Rear Bumpers only The Traxxas Slash is arguably one of the best and most authentic replicas of a modern Short Course Truck. Unfortunately, it lacks in a critical detail that many other manufacturers have incorporated into their trucks – mud flaps! That is no longer an issue! RPM now has a mud flap system that integrates with our Rear Bumper for the Traxxas Slash 2wd (RPM #81002, #81003 & #81005) and Slash 4×4 (RPM #80122, #80123 & #80125). The RPM Mud Flap System uses a pair of molded nylon support arms that bolt to pre-existing holes in the RPM bumper supports of our Slash rear bumpers. These support arms hold a set of well-designed rubber mud flaps that incorporate the molded RPM Logo on one side and are blank on the other. One final touch is a pair of molded screw supports that help prevent the screws from pulling through the soft rubber of the mud flaps. RPM rear bumpers are sold with all necessary mounting hardware and complete mounting instructions. Tech Notes: This bumper will not fit the Traxxas Nitro Slash 2wd nor will it fit the Slash 4×4.
