Tips for Maintaining Old Ball Bearing: By removing the old bearing oil, it will reduce the friction in the bearing, thus making RC car run faster. Below are some tips in cleaning the ball bearings. Preparation: High Speed Bearing Oil / Lube (#YA-0215) Universal Cleaning Case (#YA-0223) Aluminum Bearing Inner Size Measurer For 2-14mm (#YT-0021) Step 1: Cleaning Soak the ball bearings with volatile degreaser (i.e. brake cleaner) / apply motor spray on them. Step 2: Shake & Soak Shake the bearing case vigorously to remove dirt. It will loosen and remove the dirt trapped inside the bearings. Soak the bearings for another 15-30 minutes. Repeat the process until the oil / liquid is clean. Step 3: Drying Step 4: Re-greasing Dry the ball bearing with hot air gun / hair blower to prevent rusting of the bearing. Apply light oil on the bearings, give it about 20 minutes to penetrate the seals and then clean the outsides up. Finish: Bearing Testing Tool: This tool can test the smoothness of the bearing. Put the bearing on the tool and turn the bearing to check its smoothness. If the bearing does not turn smoothly, then it??s time to get a new one. We expanded the area of the gear cover over the motor shaft to compensate for the longer motor shaft of the XL-5 & VXL motors. We narrowed two areas along the perimeter of the gear cover to allow clearance for the rear bumper / wheelie bar mount as well. Mount for Rear Bumper or Wheelie Bar for the Traxxas Slash 2wd, e-Rustler, e-Stampede 2wd & Bandit replaces Traxxas stock #3677 Quick Notes: – fits the Traxxas Slash 2wd, e-Rustler, e-Stampede 2wd & Bandit – replaces Traxxas stock #3677 After hearing numerous requests to look into the rear bumper mount on the Traxxas Slash, we found several issues that could use the RPM touch. Those same problems were encountered on e-Rustler, e-Stampede & Bandit vehicles as well, using the stock wheelie bar mount. The problem – the stock mount uses only a single screw on the gear cover side to hold the mount in place. That causes a hinge effect under rear impacts causing the slotted area holding on to the rear skid plate to pop off after an impact, leaving the stock bumper / wheelie bar mount hanging under the chassis. The RPM solution… An all-new bumper mounting system that eliminates all of the problems encountered with the stock version. The RPM rear bumper / wheelie bar mount has two mounting holes on the gear cover side and three on the motor side – that’s two additional mounting points to eliminate that annoying hinge effect mentioned above. The additional mounting screws help disperse impact energy into the transmission case over more surface area, reducing the possibility of damaging the case significantly! The new RPM mount design means no more slotted parts hanging below the rear skid plate – ever! Our mount tucks up quite nicely behind the skid plate for better rear end ground clearance. Our rear bumper / wheelie bar mount fits a wide range of vehicles too. It fits all versions of the Traxxas Slash 2wd, electric Stampede, electric Rustler and Bandit including VXL, XL-5 and legacy versions. The RPM rear bumper / wheelie bar mount is molded in our nearly indestructible blend of nylons and is sold in either blue or black. Each mount comes with all necessary hardware, complete instructions for ease of installation and an industry-leading warranty to back it all up! Our new rear Motor Protector eliminates that problem! How did we solve it? We started with an RPM rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount (RPM #80902 or #80905) and extended the reach with this simple add-on piece, which completely blocks the motor from most rear impacts. A stock Traxxas rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount – Traxxas #3677 – can be used with this motor protector as well. Traxxas Slash owners running in the unlimited class or those that simply want to drop a huge amount of rear end weight can eliminate the stock rear bumper and mount the RPM Motor Protector in place of the stock bumper to prevent damage to the end-bell and motor. For the ultimate in rear end protection, a second motor protector can be bolted to the opposite side of the rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount (gear cover side) to help protect the gears and gear cover from extreme rear-end impacts. The RPM motor protector can be used on any vehicle that can run the Traxxas #3677 rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount including the Bandit, e-Stampede, e-Rustler & Slash as well as a number of Traxxas legacy models. Our Motor Protector is molded from our ultra-durable blend of nylons and is backed by our limited lifetime warranty. Tech Notes: Images show both the motor protector and transmission mount (sold separately). To use the RPM Motor Protector in conjunction with a Slash 2wd rear bumper or Traxxas wheelie bar, please see “Tips” below. With included hardware, it must be used in place of either the bumper or wheelie bar. A Traxxas rear bumper mount / wheelie bar mount (Traxxas #3677) or an RPM rear bumper / wheelie bar mount (RPM #80902 or #80905) must be installed prior to installing the RPM Motor Protector (not included). Slash Tips: Thanks to RPM customer Reed S. for this tip on how to use our Motor Protector in conjunction with a stock Slash 2wd rear bumper.
